One can't get off medication with any food. We tried home cooked, every holistic and veterinary special diet. I have supplied the local animal shelter until expiration dates. He's on medication for life and a home cooked diet high in fiber. I hate to say this but I dream about his messy poop.
Thanks for posting! It is nice to find someone else that is using this food and having success! I have run into people locally that are also using the DCO and have had great success....and they are not always people that use my vet.

I too have heard all the arguements about corn and better quality foods.....but poor little Magic has been that route and tried lots of better foods and all she did was lose weight and stay sick....so I look at DCO as a blessing for her as she has gained a little weight and is happy & healthy! So we feed 2 foods at our house and it is a challenge at times, but keeps everyone stable!

But Tetley's Mom....If I can offer one suggestion......take things vey slowly. Once these little pups start having stomach problems it is best to get their tummy back under control before switching anything in their diet. Anytime we switched Magic's foods....we always went through a 2 weeks switch instead of the normal 3-4-5 days switch most people/vet suggest. We would start with 10% new & 90% old for a day...and then 15% new & 85% old for the next day....yes at times I felt like I was actually counting pieces of food....but if I did anything too quickly it would set Magic back.
I can tell you Magic's tummy troubles started about 4 months and it was not until she was 22 months that we switched vets and found a solution.

Oh..sorry...one more thought.....start very slowly with yogurt too....we finally figured out that yogurt helps Magic....but only if it is 1/2 teaspoon every other day...anything else upset her tummy.
