I think this is an excellent law and cannot understand why you aren't for it. It addresses such issues as abandonment, spaying, cruelty, exhibition fighting, and kennel conditions among other things. The only people that wouldn't like this would be puppy mills and people who shouldn't own pets anyways. On page 71, it addresses the issue of pet shops and states that no pet shop shall sale an unfit pet. Buyers can recover cost of purchase and vet costs. If the owner decides to keep the pet they can recover vet care costs. Pet shops and puppy mills will hate this, but I think its great.
I think the ANTI-PET comment made is very suspicious and will cause a knee-jerk response in many readers. Don't believe the hype; read the law. Granted, I did not study every page, but everything I did read was excellent. What part of the law didn't you like?
"I have heard that many show people are not attending the show coming up there - or are staying in hotels and eating outside of the city." I don't know what part of the law would cause this to happen. Most show people have shot records for their animals.
