I agree with YorkieRose...there wouldn't be a next time with the same person.
I have dealt with this issue on both ends of the rope. As bitch owner and stud owner.
I studded out a few years back to a friend/fellow breeder. Everything went smoothly, I aquired a puppy as per our written agreement. If there hadn't been a puppy suitable for (to) me there was an agreed upon stud fee. (Just because she used my stud didn't guarantee there would be a puppy that I would find suitable to add to my program, and I do not like the idea of re-selling someone else's breeding) Second go around, same person, different parents, I chose not to take a puppy. My friend showed up at my door after placing the first puppy in a new home with the (pre agreed upon) stud fee. I never had to ask her or question. Thats how it should be done.
I'm the first to admit it doesn't always go that smoothly, but I've definitely lived and learned. |
