Jewels is 16 wks. old and is the stinkingest
dog I've ever known! (She's my first Yorkie, so not sure exactly what to expect.) I've been bathing her 2-3 times a week, but after a bath she's stinky a day or two later. She licks her bottom sometimes, and I suspect that's where her stink comes from. This odor gets on my clothes when I hold her, and I don't care for doggie kisses at this point, knowing where her mouth's been.
I read one of the threads here about bathing Yorkies only once a month and I can't even imagine how our home would smell if we did that. One thing I learned from that thread is to use cleansing wipes on the bottom area in between baths, so maybe that's what I'll try next.
Any other reason my puppy is a stinker?
Maybe her anal glands need expressing? (I read a thread about that, too. I think I'll have the vet show me how to do that -- they did not do that at Jewels' previous visit.)
The puppy shampoo I've been using (it's purple in color and made by Hartz
) smells like cheap men's cologne and I can't wait til its gone so I can find something that smells good, maybe with a coconut fragrance.
