Tatum had dissolvable stitches inside and some weird kind of wire ones outside. It looked a little gruesome but I thought the concept behind it was great. They looked like regular stitches from afar but they were actually really, really thin wire. The idea is that when the dog tries to lick the incision, they don't like the feel of the wire poking their tongue so they don't lick. I could touch them - it wasn't like the wire would cut you - it was just not "desirable" to the dog to lick the incision with those stitches. I wish I would have thought to take close up pictures at the time because I've tried explaining them here before and it's kinda hard to.
