Today I signed Tetley up for Family Dog classes! He starts on Feb 17th!
He'll be 5 months old when the classes start. I'm so excited! I had been wanting to take him for formal training but the cost of classes was a little daunting ($200 for a 6 week course
). Well, I talked to my mom last night and since my birthday is in mid-February, she offered to pay for his classes (or at least part of it) as my birthday present. Yay!
He's doing great and doesn't have any behavioural issues that make me NEED to take him, I just want to give him the best opportunity to learn. He's already learned a few commands like sit, give, and fetch. In the classes he'll learn
Heel - Sit - Stay - Come - Down - Attention - Jumping up - Stay with Distractions - Leave It. It's all taught with clickers.
I've been considering training him to be a therapy dog when he's older so this will really get him off to a good start. I hope he's a good little student!
