It sounds like he does have some separation anxiety. Is he still just a little guy? When Ginger was real small and just from the breeder's she was like that. She had always been with her brother and sister so being alone was difficult for her. Over time he will get more independent. I wish I could offer some advice for the meantime but I caved like a softy with Ginger every time she cried. All my showers were rushed. Lol
