Okay, so I'll be in the minority here and say that I prefer one "inside dog" at a time but that's only MY preference. Not to say Tatum wouldn't like to have a buddy to play with (although she DOES have Stormie, our Aust. Shep. to play with outside - which she does all the time) but I personally prefer to give all my lovin' to one lapdog at a time. I don't know.... just the way I feel. I previously had a toy poodle for 15 years (he also had outside dog sisters and brothers over the years). I like to lay on the couch holding Tatum, give her all my attention (which also gets shared by my daughters and husband) and just overall lavish all doggie attention on one at a time. Stormie gets all of my husband's attention because she (and he) practically live outside in his workshop!
I do wholeheartedly agree with all the comments regarding have multiples but in my own personal case, I feel better with one. So there's the minority opinion!

Just wanted you to hear both sides!
