 Battle of the potty plan
Dudley is 4 years old and we still battle the potty in the carpet days. We have a doggie door and he uses it to go outside with our pekingese to play or bark when someone pulls in to the driveway. He never goes out it to potty.
We take him out every 2 hours when we're home and he goes, but he hates to poop outside. Sometimes my husband will stay out there with him for 20 minutes and as soon as he comes in he poops on the carpet. Other times he goes right out and does his business. For periods of time he will do great and then all of a sudden he starts doing both on the carpets. We have a kennel large enough for a collie that we now put him in when we are at work. I wish we didn't have to confine him but you can't replace the carpet daily. My husband read that Yorkies are difficult to train and need constant reinforcement and strict schedules. I really think it is true. Dudley is super smart but stubborn. He rules the house! |
