I am not touchy at all regarding Buddy's size. I thought this site was to learn from. How can you learn when people just jump to conclusions when they see the word tiny! Lesson learned. I'll go elsewhere regarding them.

Carol -- "only trying to educate yourself?" -- what is it you want to educate yourself on in regards to the little ones? Are you thinking about getting one? What are your expectations for answers? I am sorry -- I did not get any specific questions. In fact, in your original post you asked why they were in so much demand and went on to list some of their perceived inadequacies. Let's see, "extra special care, heartbreaking stories, health can be questionable, never entered my mind to look for one that was 1, 2, or 3 pounds, that is scary to me, etc." If you ONLY wanted to educate yourself on them, why not start a more positive sounding thread like, "
For those of you who love your tinies, can you tell what makes them more special for you?" Something like that could have illicited a more positive response.
How you ask what you ask makes A LOT OF DIFFERENCE and can determine the responses you get.
Then others jumped in and we wound up with people accusing those who like the little ones of wanting to make them fashion accessories, being influenced by Hilton and Simpson (Please! My love for the little ones started with two Yorkies my mom had long before those two were even born!), let's see what else? Status symbols, seeking attention? When I said I tote mine all over -- I did not mean I parade them about in public. The only place they go with me outside the property is to see the vet and drop my son off at school. At over 50, I am a little past the attention-seeking phase. Asking "what's the fascination" -- what is that about? Does anyone ask what's the fascination with any other description in the standard? I don't understand at all why people cannot except that people have different preferences. You should feel good about loving your larger Yorkie without worrying about why someone else loves their smaller one.
No justification is needed for either one!
I also prefer pointed, erect ears; a silky, full length coat, the blue and gold colors; etc..... preferences. If I have a Yorkie that gets larger, droops its ears, winds up with a soft coat, or changes to a lighter color I will still love it (and HAVE!).... but my preferences remain. I prefer my own hair to be a nice auburn too but think all those other boxes of color on the shelf are nice too.
I love this site and have learned a lot but this is one topic I just can't figure. People do have a wide variety of personal preferences -- that is why they have breed standards to begin with.
Well, now I have written a novel -- sorry for being verbose. Have a wonderful Tuesday -- I had to scrape frost from my windows this AM -- it is cold even in FL!
