That was a little rude of your vet. He should have given you some explanation. He knows dogs do not sweat like we do. They only sweat on the pads of their paws and their noses. We sweat to cool down, they have to pant.

I don't have the answer for you but dogs do have other skin glands that produce fluids. I looked them up -- Sebaceous (produces oil) and Apocrine (is thought to produce pheromones). Maybe it has to do with them??
