Royal Canin isn't great. It has corn in it. I'm not sure why people think it's good?
Get Innova, Merrick, Solid Gold, Canidae, California Natural... There are a lot of great foods out there. Just read the labels. Opt for ones with meat as the first ingredient, no corn and NO by products or artificial preservatives. What stores do you have available to you? That might make things easier. Petsmart and Petco don't carry the good brands. Do you have a small local independent store?
There is no single best food. Some people feed top-quality kibble (of many brands) and some people feed raw. You might put your dog on the same lamb & rice formula that my dog loves and find out she is allergic to it and you need to feed chicken & potato. Or whatever. There isn't a #1 food. There are about 20 great brands out there and about 5-10 are fairly easy to get your hands on.
If you want to feed wet(canned) food, feed Merrick. It won (and deserved) Food of the Year 2007. |
