i have a metal ex-pen and i made it into a long rectangle shape. Then i got that plastic carpet runner you can buy to put under long hallway carpets and i put that under it.
first two pics are of just the shower curtain underneath and the last is with the plastic runner. its thicker and she coundn't chew it.
