My Kenya had 4 pups last summer and one had a hernia. Mom pulled on the cord and it was bleeding a lot. I tied it off with dental floss but the pup developed a hernia. Let us know what the vets says. Mine told me that with my pup that because of the hernia that the recommendation would be that the pup never have pups as an adult (mine was a girl also). She said that it wasn't that the puppy could never have pups, just that the recommendation was there not to because of the weakness in the lining. She also said that when I sold the pups to make sure that you clearly state the hernia in the bill of sale so that it can't come back to haunt you. I did end up getting about half for that pup as the others and I was very up front with the buyers. She also said that it couldn't be registered with the AKC as a breeder dog and that hernias tend to be passed on. I don't understand that one, but thats just what my vet told me. Let us know what your vet says. Congrads! That is so exciting. You're a grandma! |
