Default Looking for state health requirements to fly with our dog...

Hello YT'ers!

So that little Yorkie mix we found on Thanksgiving weekend? Despite spending weeks looking for his family, posting flyers, and checking with the shelters, we never found his owner. (Plenty of offers to take him, but not the original owner.) He's ingratiated himself so well into our life that we decided to keep him, and now it's like he has always been here.

Anyway, hubby and I have a big business trip coming up for two weeks and decided to take him along instead of board him. I've read all the "flying with your Yorkie posts" that I've been able to search up, gotten him used to lying in the Sherpa bag for several car trips, and will take him to the vet next week to get microchipped...just in case.

One thing that I was wondering was if I should get a health certificate while I'm at the vet. We're flying American, which states on their website that they don't require health certificates but to check with the individual states for their requirements.

Where do I find this information? I'm usually pretty skilled with Google, but I can't come up with jack about this. (We're flying from Texas to Alabama, btw.) Does anyone know of a website or state agency where I can find this out from.

I don't mind just getting the certificate while I'm at the vet's, but let's be honest - that's $30 I'd rather spend on dog toys for my sweet little boy...plus there's that cute little dog tote I've had my eye on...

P.S. This site has been such a wonderful resource to me since Stitch came into our life.
