I use a harness as well (even though it causes havoc on his fur) for the trachea reason. I have a toy bin that's about the same size as Howie that I keep toys in and if I forget to tip it on its side for him to get into it he'll stick his neck over the side of it to get toys out. No fail, everytime he starts hacking from the slight pressure against his throat/neck. Because of this I'm convinced a collar would be badddd news for my little guy. I also don't even keep a collar on him for I.D. purposes for 3 reasons:
1. It mattes his fur
2. He chews the crap out of them and
3. I'm nervous it'll get caught on something when I'm not home and he'll choke himself.
