The vet I use now in the city is very, very reasonable and they do horses, so I can use the same clinic for all my animals. BUT, the rural vet we used when we lived in Nebraska was amazing. My old cocker had a spinal problem a few years ago that required lots of office stays, medication, etc, and he only charged us $50 after it was all said and done. That same vet took care of a filly we had that was literally torn apart by a mountain lion, and after a week's stay at the office with 24 hour care, stitches, and two weeks worth of meds for us to give her, we got a bill for $150.
That would have cost us thousands at a city vet. Rural vets are awesome!
