I got my older yorkie when he was 4 yrs old too....he adjusted great...the most sweet loving pup....he isnt as much as a lap dog as my younger one...honestly he is kinda like a cat...wants to be near u, but not on u.
I'll tell ya he is most well behaved dog i ever met.
Only barks when playing, house broken.....and listens so well.
