I just let him have a curly butt 'cause there's nothing else I can do! I think you are right about the in-between phase with their coat. Scout has been getting more silver in his coat after being jet-black for a year! I noticed his curly butt about the same time. Pippa does not have a curly butt, but she has a completely different coat. She's very black, with no silver at all and her head and legs are more red than blonde. She's very silky and has dark rimmed eyes. I get alot of comments about how dark she is being over 2 years old. Scout, on the other hand, has a bit coarser hair (not really cottony, though) and very blonde on top and light rimmed eyes. Amazing how different they can be!
