I visited some local kennels, met the staff and asked lots of questions. Things like, "do you take them out of their crate/kennel to walk and play? Is the building secure? Does it have a generator and sprinkler system? Is anyone on site/on the grounds at night? I took a tour and looked at the cleanliness of the kennels, the set up, whether or not dogs can both socialize and have their own private space, etc, whether it was too hot or too cold, etc. I ended up choosing the kennel that my puppy school training is done at. This kennel also does train and board, so if I have training issues with Gracie, they can be worked on while I am away.
