Are you brushing her dry? Need to be sure to spray with a detangler/grooming type mix before brushing. Maybe order some Missing Link supplement? Fish oil? It seems dry, is the skin flaky at all? What food are you using?
If it is a wiry coat, a breeder I know has a beautiful silky coated female that she told me had a wiry coat that looked horrible for her first several months. Hopefully one of the breeders will check in this thread and be able to give you a better idea of what to expect or what you might be able to do to help. |
I don't brush her dry. Her skin doesn't seem to be dry but she does scratch sometimes. When I bought her she was on iams and so that is what I used at first but she didn't seem to like it and it was hard for her to eat, so when I went to the vet for her shots they had recommended science diet and gave me a sample. She loved the science diet, she would eat it so fast that I think she was just swallowing it and didn't chew a bite. But then I read the label and realized that it wasn't really good quality. So she has been on wellness for a few days. She likes it too. I have heard alot about missing link but I don't know what to give her. My golden retriever used to take omega fatty acid supplements for dry skin, but I haven't seen any flaky skin on her. I use earth bath puppy shampoo and conditioner. Any suggestions on better shampoos and conditioners is apprecitated. Any suggestions on anything is appreciated. This is my first yorkie and even though I am not planning to breed her or show her I still want her to be the best she can be.
