Well, when her body was carried out and driven away, her neighbor was in his yard mowing the lawn, and my mom sd. that he stopped and stood at attention the whole time with his hand over his heart.
My grandmother lived a lonely life and died a very undignified death, with very few people to notice. That simple gesture of respect from a neighbor who had reason not to care has meant the world to my mother, to this day. |
