Lucy stopped barking in the house when I rolled a magazine and hit it on the coffee table if she barked (it worked well and fast). But it did not work outside. She stopped barking outside when a trainer told me to put a little bitter apple on her tongue if she barks. it has to get to the back of the tongue, her mouth needs to get a little frothy, and tell her quiet first to give her a chance to stop (which works now). But I always carry a bottle with me. Of course I called her vet and checked with them. They said the bitter apple would not hurt her. And really I used very little for a short time. I put it on my finger then put it in her mouth, I don't spray her mouth, I did that only once, the first time. These were all last resort methods after working with private trainers and trying other ideas for over 1 year. Now I can take her places. In fact, she went to the mall with me today.
