Villette-I don't think the ball is necessarily an accident waiting to happen but it can seem a bit awkward if you're not used to it. It's good for strengthening your core. I like my exercise ball. I used to use it a lot and I have a a few DVDs that have "ball workouts" but I've been doing more strict pt strengthening workouts and stretches since I injured my back.

Jenn218-I already had DVDs and other equipment so I only needed the ball--and it was a replacement ball since I gave mine away--so it was cheaper for me to buy just the ball. BUT that's a pretty good price if you need all that other stuff
