Is this her first litter? If things go well,she will be fine and give birth with no help..but if things get complicated (which they could if its her first litter) and she needs a c-section etc,then yes..it can be expensive.
I have no idea what a c-section for a dog costs where you are,but here,in spain,it costs about 400euros (over $400)..not including medication or over night stay etc.You should really take her in for an x-ray so that the vet can see how many pups there are (if there are any) and of course,how big they are..he will also messure her hips and will be able to see if the pups will have trouble passing.Even if things look ok,you should always have some money put by just in case..you never know what could happen and you dont want to lose your female or the pups..so being ready for the worst IS a good idea in these cases.There is ALOT to learn about breeding.
