My dad's two youngest ones are from the pound and were adopted at 6 and four months respectively. So I speak from experience and not just out of wanting to speak. I have no problems with my children being around the dogs and I have a two and a half year old son.

It's a situation where it has to be evaluated on a case by case basis.

I can see where the poster feels as though it's a bit of a type of racism....the breed has gotten a total bum rap and no matter how good a dog you have people just want to think negatively. Pitbulls have also been blamed for the bad things other dogs have done. The spuds makenzie dog is a type of terrier and has done some damage and people automatically jumped to the conclusion it was a pit bull terrier. I saw this here several months back from an over seas poster.
They certainly have created their own bum rap, and so have rottweilers, doberman's, labs and golden retrievers. All big dogs CAN be dangerous even fatal but PB seem to have taken the cake on this one. But everyone has their own opinion and I respect yours
