She imitates me alot..... but the way I taught her was one day I thought she was smiling and it gave me the idea to work with her.

my husband was hospitalized for 21 days and I was in and out everyday - she'd get SO happy to see me one day I SWEAR She was grinning - I worked with her for 4 days teaching her when I got home.

I would show her MY smile and gently touch the corners of her mouth - saying SMILE over and over - I did this everytime I came home for about 10 minutes each time - and one day she just CHEESED it up so big I was CRYING I laughed so hard - I FLEW to the hospital to tell my husband and he didn't believe me lol -

when he got home she showed him her smile when I told her to - and he just about passed out. He's said so many times to me that she's the only dog he's ever had that smiles and he will never see it again in his lifetime. I agree - we won't. Cheri is just plain CLUELESS and will hardly look at me when I work with her - Eye contact is a big part of teaching them

Now it's a big game to Chanel and she smiles all the time to get the laughs.
