So sorry to hear about your pup's troubles! Is he blind in both eyes (that's what it sounds like you're saying) or just in the one that had the ulcer? My toy poodle was blind in one eye after an accident with a German Shepherd but he learned to adapt really well. Even kept doing his flippy circles in the direction of his blind side! If yours is blind in both eyes, I'm so sorry. I've heard amazing stories of dogs learning to adapt with the help of their own "guide dog". Do you have other dogs that will learn to show him around? So sorry ya'll are going through this.
