Cal, I can understand how hard this has been on you. My son went away to college when we had only had chewy a month. He came back for Thanksgiving and chewy was kind of mean to him... had bit him at one point when Mike went to pet him. Mike loves dogs and has never been mean to them at all... Not to any animails. I was right there and saw the whole thing. Chewy was on my lap and bit my son. My son got upset and walked away. He felt bad so Mike stayed in his room. I felt awful, part of the reasn we got Chewy was cause my son missed my last dog so much! Any way I decided I was not going to let my son feel bad in his own home, and our little darling baby was going to learn to be nice if it killed me! I would correct Chewy when he was snapping, and I didn't hold Chewy while mike was trying to pet him...I also had to teach my son to grab chewy by the back of his neck and say NO BITE in a stern voice to teach Chewy who was boss... Well Mike got back from college for Christmas break and I was worried... but every thing is fine... they get along great. Make sure your Son knows you love him more then the dog... and make sure eveyone including the dog plays nice!!!! I know my son felt really horrible when Chewy was mean. I think your son was acting out on the dog cause he felt bad that the dog didn't like him! I hope things go well from now on!!!
