Personally, I find it easier with the two. We got our second yorkie about 6 weeks ago and it's the best decision we've ever made! She keeps Topher busy and he gets into less trouble 'cause they're always playing together. Ours was definitely a good match as we had no difficult adjustment period...they hit it off right from the beginning.
I understand that not everyone is as lucky and sometimes there is an adjustment period for the pups, but I think in the long run the dogs will end up liking if not loving one another.
