It is an autobiography and there are 2 additional books that follow him while he grows up. My daughter had to read it in English class and every student and even the teacher were in tears as they discussed it. I recommend it even to those who had a happy childhood - it will help us understand the behavior of those who didn't. So, Please, read this and you can see how the past can be used to help you grow. It is a truely incredible journey for a child to make and an even more incredible adult that he made of himself. (This is a true story about the worst child abuse case in California's history).

Omg that was an awesome book!! Have you read the whole series of his books, it takes you thru his whole life and what he endured. If that man can accomplish all he did after that childhood than there is hope for everyone. Good recommendation!!!
