I travel alot. I always have the dogs in their pet taxi's and the birds in theirs. If we stop somewhere where the animals can't go in, I always leave them locked in the car. I have one of those battery operated fans so they don't get to hot. I also always park where I can see my vehicle from inside. I never leave them lose in a motel room but always put them in thier crates and a do not disturb sign on the door. I hope this helps some.
