I may be out of place here, because I had a great childhood and a wonderful family, so I can't put myself in the shoes of anyone who had a less than perfect childhood. But, for anyone that can't put their past behind them and feel their upbringing is to blame for their life now, PLEASE read "A Child Called It" by Dave Pelzer. It is an autobiography and there are 2 additional books that follow him while he grows up. My daughter had to read it in English class and every student and even the teacher were in tears as they discussed it. I recommend it even to those who had a happy childhood - it will help us understand the behavior of those who didn't. So, Please, read this and you can see how the past can be used to help you grow. It is a truely incredible journey for a child to make and an even more incredible adult that he made of himself. (This is a true story about the worst child abuse case in California's history).
