Default Our experience

We are in our 5th week of recovery from a broken leg. Lacy has 4 pins and a bar. She is seen every week and the dressing is changed. During the 2nd week something happened (we don't know what) and she was obviously in pain (shaking and panting) so she was rehospitalized for 3 days and they found nothing wrong. Since then she has seemed to improve almost every day. There have been a couple of times that we suspected she might be uncomfortable but whatever it was passed. We have watched her carefully, hand fed her (stopped that 2 days ago) and have tried to keep her as quiet as possible. It gets more and more difficult. She wants to play with Caesar now in the worst way. Our advice is to just keep a close eye on Willow. As long as she is eating well and sleeping comfortably she is probably ok. We spent a lot of time just simply holding Lacy for the 1st couple of weeks. We did try the kennels, etc. but she seemed to be very unhappy and agitated when we confined her so now we simply put her into another room when we are gone so that she and Caesar can't run and play. She sleeps in our bed with lots of pillows around her and a blanket over the top so that it is like a den. Seems to be VERY HAPPY! It takes a little while for them to figure out how to "do their business" on 3 legs but they master it very quickly. Have patience and just keep giving Willow lots of attention. Hopefully it will turn out well for all of us.
