Geez - Your little ones maybe just super sensitive but it is a good thing you are talking to a vet you never know.

I did look up in my Veterinary Drug Handbook Albon to see what the adverse effects could be on a Sulfadimethoxine:

Adverse effects: can precipitate in the urine (esp. w/high dosages for prolonged periods, acidic urine or highly concentrated urine). Dogs: keratoconjunctivitis sicca, bone marrow depression, hypersensitivity reactions (rashes, dermatitis), focal retinitis, fever, vomiting and nonseptic polyarthritis possible.

This description would be the worse case senario and I believe the key is long term use. Again, Albon to me is a miracle drug that has helped so many of my rescues and I know most breeders live by this product also.
