My Lex i s 9.5 lbs at a year and I have to say you wouldn't know it to look at it. He has very heavy bones. That can be the case with your baby. The thing is that sometimes you can get a small baby but they can catch a growth spurt. Some can start big and just not continue to grow so it's always hard to truly figure what you will get.
I never thought that Lex was going to be that heavy. I was shocked when the vet told me his weight. I feed him totally organic food and rarely feed table food to him. So his weight was a suprise to me.
Either way we love them anyhow. Lex has graduated to being my tpot yorkie.
