Just so she doesn't "waste away" in the meantime since she's not wanting to really take much down....I'm assuming because of the pain, I'd recommend you give her pedialyte instead of water. Ask your vet about this.
Further, you can ask him about giving her a tbsp's worth of NutriCal at every meal and see what he says to this. Her organs and muscles NEED nutrition if she's to recover and it doesn't sound like she's going to be getting enough of even the basics otherwise.

As far as a liquid pain med, I can't remember the name of it...Droncit? No, maybe...it's a whitish/yellowish liquid pain med that tastes like Honey. He should know what I'm talking about. Works wonders and the dogs seem to like it.
