Mcgrether. I'm sorry for your family and what you went through. It's no consolation but atleast now Lacey's at peace. It's far better to put her down to let her suffer. If you need help in finding a reputable Yorkie breeder, once you're settle in NC, I know that there are many on the board here that can put you in the right direction. Please, also consider rescue as there are many many great dogs some even pups that in most cases to no fault of their own end up in rescue. A great time to look is around February or March. You'll find a lot of Christmas pups turned in. People impulse buy for Christmas presents and find that either they are more then they bargained for or that the person they thought would want a pup really didn't. Again, Petfinder.com is a great place to look. If you type in Yorkies and your zip it will pull up what is available in your area. The great part about getting a rescue is that the donation (Usually around $400) is far less then you'd pay if bought through a breeder and the fee includeds the shots, vetting and spay/neuter. Another great place to try is puppymillrescue.com. They get quite a few pups in. I've seen a few pure bred Yorkies come in, some only 16 weeks old and others under under one or two years of age. And, sometimes you are better off getting a pup a year old or so because for sure you know how big he or she will be, their temperment and health issue etc. I got my Morkie (Maltes/Yorkie) through a classified. The woman bought her for $1800 and decided she didn't want her. She was nine months when I got her and she was already spayed and had her shots. I got her for $900 which saved me $400 for her spay and also she was a lot less then I would have paid through a breeder and the best part is we knew what she'd be because at nine months she pretty much stopped growing and her temperment was present. She's a wonderful girl and we were lucky to get her. I wish you and your family the best in the coming year and I hope you find your Yorkie. They are great great dogs. Elaine
