I'm so sorry; I know exactly what you are going through. Penny is one of the rare dogs who doesn't care about messing where she lies. I had to put a small cloth down in her crate because if I didn't, she would pee and then splash it everywhere. With the cloth, she would pee and then lie right on top of the mess. UGH.

Eventually she outgrew it for the most part. She will still make an occasional mess in the large crate.
