Don't worry when I first started working with Reagan It took me a few days to a week to get the first sucessful sit, and even a couple more days to get her to do it everytime (well most the time, I don't think she does it everytime now). Anyway I noticed once we got over that first speed bump she was off. She learned down, bow, speak, sit up on her bottom, and stand in no time at all, at least every day or two, and I only work with her for about 10 minutes at a time.

One thing I taught Reagan however is to "leave it". Once I tell her leave it she won't touch it untill I say to "get it". You may be able to try teaching him this then telling him to leave the treats you sit down beside you then he may not be so quick to steal them. I taught Reagan this one by simply putting a treat down and telling her leave it and pushing her away each time she would go after it and good girl when she didn't. The key is to not let them get it until you say to. A friend of mine even says that she never gave her dog the treat that she told the dog to leave, at least when she first started training. She would give her a totally different one. I don't know if that works better or not though.

Anyway don't give up hope just keep trying and keep your patience. I was told that if I'm not in a good mood don't work with the dog.
