If she got the dog from the pound, and you know which one, you can report her to them. They'll come out and take a look. Well, many do anyway. All they'll want is her name and address if you've got that. Then they can look her up in their adoption records.

Just a thought.
If she thinks that this would be too expensive to treat, she's got problems. Regardless, it NEEDS to be done. It's a shame that some people love their dogs too much to let them go when it's appropriate. Or that they don't love them enough to find a way to fix the situation.

Poor kid. If he doesn't have patches like this anywhere else, because it's occuring from the middle up, it's likely to be him/her just chewing it for any number of reasons.
