I start looking evaluating my puppies at 8 weeks old for personality......however, never really start making a good decision until 4-5 months. With the female I'm showing now I didn't make a decision that I would show her until she was about 5 1/2 months. She had everything I wanted, but the proof would be what she would do in the ring. She came out her 1st weekend pointing at 6 months of age and pointing again the following weekend.....that was my decision maker.
