Yeah, that is weird. They prefer pooing elsewhere for some reason, or don't make the connection to the pee-pad.

I did want to say about the playpen that they may not take to it right away. Our Pookie is very vocal when we close it and leave her. She's okay at first, until she realizes we are really gone. Then she barks and howls. So we are looking for doggie daycare right now. But if you can, it's best to get them used to it gradually. So close it and leave for a minute at first, then two, then three, then maybe five, then seven, then ten and so on until you're up to an hour.

We didn't do that correctly as we were forced to spend time away right away. And unfortunately we're paying for it now.
