Probably a good rule after your experience. Good grief, what's wrong with people! When you ask someone to treat your animals carefully and they ignore you, you have the right to choose stronger words. I don't think you were out of line. A little strong but definitely within the boundaries of good sense. Good thing the mom has to explain to the boy - maybe next time he'll listen first time. A little shock is sometimes a good teacher. No sympathy for them from this corner.
