There are quite a few low carb plans. My hubby and I do Atkins. To begin with you are supposed to have under 20 carbs a day for the first two weeks. It is basically detoxing your body and getting yourself off the sugar so those cravings will go away. You'll find that you are not hungry after a few days on this diet. I often forget to eat and start to feel yucky, then I realize, Oh I went to bed without eating dinner the night before... LOL It's a nice feeling but the diet itself is hard because you get tired of meat. I have found that after doing the diet that when I cheated and had something sugary, it didn't taste as good as I remembered. You can have fat, like mayo, oil to fry with, in unlimited amounts. You can eat as much food as you like as long as you stay under 20 grams of carbs. When reading labels on food, you can subtract the dietary fiber from the carbs to get the carb value. The more fiber the better. Drink til your eyes float. The diet itself is a diuretic so for the first few days you will be peeing a lot and you may even have an upset tummy as your body adjusts to your new way of eating.
Yesterday, I ate 2 fried eggs for breakfast, tuna with mayo and pickles for lunch, and steak and salad for dinner. I had a few almonds and a piece of beef jerkey in between meals. I also had coffee with heavy cream and splenda. You aren't supposed to have caffeine but I just can't give up everything!! |
