A lot of pet owners won't agree with the spanking, they feel yorkies are to small or it's abuse. I personally would've tagged Kodak with a tap or two on the butt. I would've done it right as I grabbed him & scolded him all the way home. They have to know you are the master and you mean business and running away is bad. Dogs are restricted to leashes and fenced back yards and soon as they see a get out of jail opening, they sprint, it's like chasing a rabbit. Mines chased a rabbit out the yard (of course the rabbit was faster) I called and chased and he stopped, but I still tapped him anyway. They should stop on command, as I am working on that now. I carry a fly swatter (instead of rolled newspaper) when we go in the yard unleashed. I tapped him with it once last year for sprinting and he ran under the bed. Now when he sees it, he's the perfect angel.
I have not had to use it since, but I swat the floor and the wall with it every now and then just to let him know I have it. Glad you caught her!
