I have to say my all time favorite gift was last year at Christmas. I have been collecting the Hallmark house ornaments for years and keep them up year round on a ledge that is along side my basement stairs. There were two years that I did not buy one. One was the year my dear dad died. I was so sad and missing him so and could have cared less if Christmas came or went. The other time I didn't buy one was the year we put our son into drug/alcohol treatment about the middle of December. I was so overcome with worry and sadness and that's another year I just didn't have it in me to celebrate Christmas.
I'm happy to say my son has been drug/alcohol free for 5 years and is now a licensed addiction counselor in the same treatment center we put him in, only a different location. So, last year, Tyler (my son) managed to find me the hallmark houses for those two years that I didn't get them. I was so touched by that gift...that he went to the trouble to find them both and there was so much love with that gift that I was truly overwhelmed. I get such a warm feeling every time I think of his gift of love! |
Oh Connie.... What a beautiful gift from your son! You must be so proud of him for overcoming such a huge personal challenge. I'm sure he wouldn't be where he is with out your love, and it's obvious how much he loves you.
Your story moved me. Thank you so much!
