Default ?WHAT CAN I DO,static electric shocks

Wow, recently wearing slipper socks and every time I turn a lite on, get shocked, got some fleece fabric and had it in my arms awhile ago went to turn lite on, GOT SHOCKED BIG TIME forget the slipper socks I gave them up after numerous times of this happening. I bought all this fleece to make up these darling fleece jackets later and now I am dreading it. I guess it is cause they are all made of polyester fabrics. Does anyone have a suggestion to what I can do? Tried using the fabric softener, added more moisture in the air thinking the air is too dry, nothing seems to help. Boy do I hate seeing those sparks and also a loud pop, Jack even heard it clear in the other room. I am getting scared to touch a lite switch, can't imagine what is going to happen when I start to sew that fabric up and to think I have about 29 yards of it to work up Anyone else have this happen?
Thanks to your input on this. Wishing everyone a Blessed and Merry Christmas. Patti & Jack and Baby Blessing
