I agree thay there is a problem, but it is not coming from the planned breeding of purebred dogs. It comes from irrisponsible people that usually can't afford to feed the dog let alone get it spayed/neutered.
We we need is free spay neuter clinics. Initially it would cost the tax payers, but in the long run it would save because the number of dogs in shelters would be greatly reduced.
Most of the irrisponsible people are lower income. A firends of their cousin's boyfriend's neighbor's dog had puppies and they were giving them away. So they get this cute little puppy, that within 6 months is eating them out of house and home, so they turn it out, or chain it out and the cycle starts all over.
If they had mandatory spay/neuter laws, first of all they would be nearly impossible to enforce, and second, if you think yorkies are expensive now, what do you think one might cost if there were a shortage of them? |
