One way to potentially solve the problem is to meet the people in a neutral place the first time to get a feel for them before you invite them to your home. Since choosing a home for your babies can be a process, that gives you a chance to meet multiple times and in multiple different scenarios to get to know them. If they give you the creeps in say the parking lot of the mall, you wouldn't want them in your home or with your babies. If you get a good feel for them, then invite them over to see your home. And explain to them what you are doing so that they know it's just a precautionary measure. That is what my breeder did with us...
